Graphic design retainer cost

Understanding the monthly investment

The cost of a graphic design retainer depends on the creative capacity you need, the work it covers and how closely you want your partner involved. Start with your recurring workload, then choose a plan around it.

Peach Creative’s indicative plans

Peach’s proposed monthly levels are Core at £395, Grow at £695 and Studio at £1,195. These figures are indicative; your proposal confirms the final fee, capacity and terms before you start.

  • Core: dependable support for brand artwork changes, existing website updates and light campaign creative.
  • Grow: broader support for businesses with regular design, website and campaign requirements.
  • Studio: higher capacity and a closer ongoing relationship across creative priorities.

What affects your monthly fee?

Volume matters, but so does complexity. Adapting an existing graphic and developing a new campaign concept are different requests. A landing page, a brochure and a presentation also need different amounts of work.

Planning requirements, specialist input and agreed timing can affect the scope. A useful proposal makes the available capacity and the way requests are estimated clear, so you know what your monthly fee is buying.

What may be quoted separately?

Major new website builds, workshops, copywriting, printing, ad spend, stock licences and specialist suppliers are separate unless your proposal explicitly includes them. A monthly creative fee should not be confused with a printing budget or advertising spend.

If your requests exceed the agreed capacity, additional work should be discussed and quoted before it starts.

Questions to ask before choosing a plan

  • How much capacity is included, and how is it measured?
  • Which services can use it?
  • What turnaround and revision arrangements apply?
  • Can unused capacity roll over?
  • What does extra work cost, and who approves it?
  • What are the payment timing, initial commitment and notice period?

Choose around real demand

Make a list of the creative work you have needed over the last few months, including tasks you postponed. That gives us a practical starting point for deciding whether you need occasional project help or ongoing support.
